5 out of 5 stars Thank You Amazon   February 15, 2008

Dear Amazon,

I've just begun a search for works on dog fighting. During this search, I found several disturbing books available on your site despite many calls from your members to have them removed.

I want to thank you for making this material available. I am researching a work of my own and am unable to find what I need at my local library, probably due to calls from well meaning community members who asked for these books to be taken off the shelves.

That is all. Please continue doing what you do.

Thank You,

Jennifer Bennett

I had heard Amazon was selling cock-fighting type merchandise, but dogfighting too?? Unbelievably disturbing that Amazon will not take a simple stand against inhumane cruelty. It could not possibly hurt their bottom line to do away with promoting such products and would do wonders for their image and customer loyalty. I shop here all the time, but Overstock here I come!

Capitalizing on the brutality, violence, and abuse of the dog fighting world for financial gain is ghastly. Selling this material supports and perpetuates this horrible industry and sends the wrong message about our society. Until Amazon stops distributing this and other dog and cockfighting materials, I cannot in good conscience give them my business, and I will urge friends and family to do the same.

The book description says it all.. i.e. how to effectively submit your dog to torture and heal its wounds so you can throw it back into the pit... They say you can gauge the civility of a country by its treatment of animals.... Those who experience pleasure by watching, (and pro-actively training) animals to tear themselves apart are sick. This book is a "hate crime" book - for Amazon to shield "Fighting Dogs" underneath free speech is weak - while they disallow other books they claim promote hate crime and violent behavior. Really dumbfounded that Amazon condones this - do they not draw any line? I'll shop elsewhere for my books as I cannot ethically support a company who knowingly condones illegal activity and promotes animal cruelty.
