Although I concider myself a cat person, I love a good animal story wherever I can find it. I totally recommend this book to anyone, whether they like cats, dogs or are just after a really good read. I picked out The Dog Who Spoke With Gods while browsing the fiction aisle in B&N. When I began reading it a few days later, I was totally pulled in to the story of Elizabeth and her singleminded devotion to Damien, a laboratory dog, and the life-altering changes she underwent because of this dog. It was hard to put this book down. I was so amazed by author Diane Jessop's wonderful writing style and her storytelling ability. As I got further along into the book, I could tell she put her heart and soul into its creation. Here it is a few days after I have finished reading it, and I am still thinking about it. I must warn you, it does not have a happy ending, But when you are done reading it, you will come away with insites into things you may or may not have concidered before.This book is a keeper. I hope someone makes it into a movie.

When I started this book I was very excited about it as it was well written, realistic, fantastic characters, good versus evil....seemed the best of everything...not to mention I love dogs. When the dog started talking though, the whole thing fell apart for me and it just got worse. Though the main character was a young, intelligent college student, she was undoubtedly the most stupid human on the face of the earth. The people she trusted (all her enemies), the idiotic decisions she made....big DUH!!! I honestly can't believe this book got 5 stars at all. The ending was horrible. I finished the book because for me it was such a joke how bad it got and I honestly wondered if it could get worse. YES!!!
Borrow it from someone, read the first half and then pass it on to someone else. Make up your own ending. Girl runs off with dog, finds understanding rental situation, reapplies to different college for an Animal Science Degree, goes on to vet school and becomes the best alternative vet out there.

what ever you do, dont spend money on this book. it is the worst piece of propaganda i have read in a long time. compared to the working pitbull, this book does nothing but damage the breed. avoid at all costs.

RADIO! Who needs a RADIO?!
This was a wonderful book. A little far-fetched on a few things, but sooooo good. If you love dogs (especially pit bulls), and you hate the way they are treated by most people, you will like this book. Good read!

So first I must say, I cried almost all the way through this book. That being said, it was a great read. I loved the story and the lack of cookie-cutter storyline that you would have expected. i do think it would have been awesome if Elizabeth had become a Vet... Some of the character development was a little boring... the dog storyline was way more interesting to me than the other characters. The overall awesomeness of this story will appeal to any pit bull lover, or anyone who has felt that strong, unexplainable bond with their pet.
